Over 70 of the UK’s leading artists including Maggi Hambling, Sean Henry, Sophie Tea, Phoebe Dickinson, Sophie Ryder, Jill Berelowitz, Patrick Morales-Lee, Jemma Powell and Sir Quentin Blake have donated works to the Horatio’s Garden Online Art Auction 2023, going live for bidding from Friday 13 October – Sunday 29 October on the-saleroom.com.

Building on the success of the inaugural art auction in 2021, which raised over £70,000, this year’s event is once more in collaboration with and sponsored by fine art auctioneers Woolley & Wallis. The pieces are to be sold with no additional bidding or online fees.
All proceeds will directly support the charity in its mission to nurture the wellbeing of people after spinal injury in beautiful, vibrant sanctuaries within the heart of NHS spinal injury centres throughout the UK.
Artist John Illsley, founding member and bass guitarist of rock group Dire Straits, is donating a work and says “The incredible things Horatio’s Garden has achieved shows just what can be done to improve the lives of those in very difficult and challenging circumstances. Out of adversity is born hope – Horatio’s Garden is truly a testament to this and I’m delighted to be supporting it.”
Artist Sophie Tea added: “I am so honoured to join these incredible artists in our support of Horatio’s Garden and their vital mission through their upcoming art auction. It’s so exciting to be part of this collective effort and to contribute to their special cause by raising funds through creativity and art. A big thank you to everyone involved and I hope this year’s art auction is as big a success as their last!”
Artist Sophie Ryder earlier this year installed three beautiful bronze sculptures in Horatio’s Garden Stoke Mandeville. She said: “Installing my sculpture in Horatio’s Garden was a lovely experience. I spoke to a few patients who have undergone life changing experiences. It makes me happy to think my work may be able to give them a little bit of joy during such difficult times.”
